The Kitchen Upstairs

Nestled above its farm-to-table counterpart on Boulder's iconic Pearl Street, The Kitchen Upstairs presented us with an intriguing design challenge: transform a compact second-floor space into a sophisticated cocktail lounge that honors the brand's sustainable ethos while creating a distinct identity. We embraced the constraint of limited square footage, turning it into an opportunity to craft an intimate atmosphere where conversation flows as smoothly as the craft cocktails. The concept called for a delicate balance—a space relaxed enough for casual gatherings yet refined enough to elevate the evening dining experience beyond its downstairs sibling.

The spatial organization of The Kitchen Upstairs revolves around connection—both social and visual. We designed a layout that encourages interaction through varied seating arrangements, from intimate corner banquettes to more communal areas that facilitate spontaneous conversations between neighbors.

Simplicity at Every Turn

Embracing an inclusive ethos, Hurley Place positions itself with the river as its focal point, inviting diverse communities and fostering economic vibrancy. The Riverfront development is comprised of two residential towers, a hotel tower, and an expansive central open space connecting to the river. This central connector is flanked by food & beverage and retail establishments and serves as both a connection to the Promenade but also a gathering space for the community.
