Gaylord Residence

Originally built in 1941, the home sits among Denver's most celebrated historic estates—tree-lined streets where pre-1940s mansions reflect the city's architectural heritage. Semple Brown was engaged to transform this property into a modern expression of timeless elegance while preserving its historic character. With original architectural details including a carved limestone architrave, French blue tile roof, and wrought-iron balconettes, the exterior offered remarkable character that needed careful preservation. The material palette honors the home's architectural heritage with marble-cased openings, travertine floors, white herringbone oak flooring, and reeded oak paneling that add depth and rhythm throughout. Studio D Design led the interiors, layering refined finishes and custom details that recall the craftsmanship of a bygone era reimagined for contemporary living.
