The visionary team behind Sweet Basil restaurant commissioned Semple Brown for an addition to their family of extraordinary Colorado dining destinations. The new space draws on the primitive roots of cooking over an open flame, the refined rusticity of the local culture, and a straightforward attitude of creating unpretentious and enticing food. In favorable weather, the entire facade of the restaurant can be opened to create a connection to the green space and sounds of the creek beyond. Reclaimed wood siding, rusted steel panels, walnut table tops, and theatrical lighting all help to create of feeling of intimate warmth near the open kitchen and its cuisine. Carefully stacked wood piles immediately became an abstract symbol of the Mountain Standard brand, and offers familiar imagery to the modern alpine experience.
