Duncan Center at Kent Denver School
Englewood, CO
Semple Brown Design was challenged to renovate this independent school’s library as a 21st Century learning center, supporting new models of student research and collaboration. Space formerly used for book stacks was transformed into multiple rooms for team collaboration, instruction and small-group interaction – each featuring technology for presentation and research, including a distance-learning studio. To enhance the sense of connection and collaboration, a new mezzanine and stair connect all of the rooms, and glass interior walls showcase all of the activity. The insertion of large-scale windows into the shell of the building not only provides daylighting, but also frames a distinctive view of the campus.
