Semple Brown has been working collaboratively with owners Kimbal Musk and Hugo Matheson since 2011 to develop The Kitchen and Next Door restaurant concepts for their Denver, Fort Collins, Chicago and Memphis locations. Musk and Matheson opened the original Boulder restaurant in 2004 with the desire to create a restaurant that would function similar to a home kitchen; a place where everyone wants to hang out, the center of conversation and connection. The design revolves around honestly of materials and comfortable approachable spaces. The result is inviting, warm spaces that tap into a rustic elegance — elegance that does not distract from the fresh and delicious food that has gained renown across the country. With industrial details and simple materials the spaces become gathering points for satisfying and beautiful meals.
